He's back. The King of Guji, Ture Waji, returns with a Tima Village washed, and this one might be our favourite yet.
For years we only ever bought naturals from Ture, because that's the style Ethiopia built its name on and nobody does it cleaner. But he's been pouring the same obsessive care into washed coffees, and now, in his third year of the experiment, he's making them sing. You'd never guess these were the newer side of his repertoire.
This year's Tima strips things back to two showstoppers. First, strawberry: ripe, jammy, sweet enough that you'll want to check whether someone spiked your cup with fruit. Then, floating over the top, white lily: delicate, perfumed, properly elegant. Together they're bright, clean and a little bit fancy, the kind of cup that makes you sit up straight and pay attention.
Grown at a lofty 2,200 metres in the hills of Shakiso, this is Guji at its most precise and its prettiest. We tasted it, went quiet, then immediately started telling everyone who'd listen.
So consider yourself told. You've gotta try this one.
